Almost Done...

Today was my presentation to Gene from the ESBA. A lot of hard work and time has gone into this project. My group thought it would be best to take the simple, clean route when creating the presentation. The plansbook came together well. After presenting today I realized it was my last presentation of my college career. Now I have time to finally relax and enjoy the rest of my senior year with my friends. I have come to realize even the simplest moments can be the most memorable.

Almost Spring Break

Today in class we talked about the creative strategy for a campaign to be successful. Towards the end of the class we watched some advertisments. The one was T-Mobile, and they created a some what flash mob type of commercial, which I found very entertaining and creative. Another one showed how creating advertisments takes time and a few takes, to a Diet Coke commerical with Michael J Fox climbing out of a building, and dodging cars to get to a vending machines. I promise I have a point to this. From those commercials I thought of the ESBA and what if we had to create a commercial for them. I would want it to be entertaining like the T-Mobile commercial, show hard work like the seltzer commercial and show determination, but have a bit of humor in it like Michael J. Fox's scences. In order to camptivate and audience you need to be entertaining, informative, and have a little humor sometimes depending on the advertismentes objectives. The ESBA needs to show that they are changing and heading toward a new "entertaining, informative and fun future." For here on out, the end is coming closer and closer, not just for the semester but for my college career as of now. In this time I am just trying to go day by day enjoying myself , but yet accomplishing all I need to graduate.

Another Week

Every time I write a journal I can't believe all that has gone by already. I feel I write it in my journal then sooner or later. The ESBA has started to remind of a campus club and thinking about it in that way. I figured it might be best to start from the ground up. We have to start to think what is it the the organization really wants. We have come up with ideas knowing they want to keep the ESBA, gain new members and figure out the best way to advertise this organization to best benefit themselves and others in the local community of Eastern Scranton. My group has been doing very well working together and stay on top of our work. I recently worked on an advertisement for my Dad. He is the head manager of the Woodbridge Parks Department, and has to work on planning events as well. He let me design the poster/paper size docuement that will be sent out to over 15,000 people, so I am excited about that. It had to go through of course Woodbridge's PR etc, but it got the OK. The advertisement was for a Big Wheels Day, where army trucks, work trucks, police vehciles etc are in the mall parking lot and it is a half day event for family fun. That got me thinking, that I created a simple, but catchy advertisement...why not do the same for ESBA. Lately a lot of my other work has started to make new ideas come into my mind especially for the creatives. As for now I remain insanely busy, stretching myself very thin. So what's next? Just to survive the next two weeks would be nice!

Its About That Time...Things Get A Little Busy

I don't know where the month has gone, let alone my past years at Scranton. With time flying by, I am also as busy as ever. I am going to be juggling school, work, interning and everything in between. However, I know all the hard work will pay off. In Ad Decision Making we are making progress on the Eastern Scranton Business Association. We handed in our last assignment on brand character analysis. We hope to help the ESBA with their goals. My team believes by using our class we will be able to help them receive more members and keep them. I was thinking of a simple example such as if I wanted to start an organization on campus what would I need to do, how would I go about it, what would I want it to stand for. With that simple thought I was able to think of ESBA in that way, but in a larger scale of course. Sometimes thinking of a smaller example can help expand a larger one. A lot of my time this week will be focused around JCPenney and our campaign it is that busy time of the semester for our team to come together and be together till were almost sick of each other! It needs to be done and I know we will succeed. With that I still need to focus on my internship this week and job hunting. My interview in NYC went very well on Friday, since I received a job offer! Very exciting news to hear after a long hard working day. As for now I am trying to manage my time and keep my sanity this week!

Last Few College Courses

Starting the semester with 3 classes my senior year is a great feeling. I know I will be able to really focus on my courses and also have some free time. Advertising Decision Making will help brush up on skills throughout my Advertising courses. Being 1 of the 2 seniors in the class, makes me realize I am getting older and it really is my last semester. At the same time it is nice because the juniors at least in my group always ask advice on courses and applying for jobs. Our campaign for this semester is the Eastern Scranton Business Association. Gene who came to our class to speak to us about his ideas, was very open to letting our minds be as creative as we want. The organization needs some help and from everything I learned I know our class will be able to offer great assistance and get new members for the organization. It reminded me of my Intro to Advertising course and Scranton Tomorrow coming in. So I went back and reviewed my work and presentation to get my mind moving on this campaign. I have got some ideas from being downtown this weekend and seeing the range of businesses the organization wants to attract. There needs to be a way that the Eastern Scranton Business Association can become a smaller version of the Scranton Chamber of Commerce. I have been on the web-site for the Chamber of Commerce and it is more advanced than the ESBA. However, that does not mean that we can't implement some of their ideas to work for the ESBA. I have more research to conduct and work with my team. Everyone on my team has begun to do research and gets along very well. What's next? Continuing to work on this campaign and along with Advertising Competition I will be very busy!
